I worked as a Analyst at Missguided where I worked on many different projects. My favourite one was all around returns where we were deep diving into the data to infer how to reduce return rate as much as possible which fed into the carbon neutral analysis I was leading.
What inspired me into digital and tech...
In a weird way I fell into it. All I knew when I was young and trying to figure out what to do with my life was that I found numbers easy and knew that would lead me somewhere. From that I fell into data and never looked back. I would encourage as many people as I could to look into data and tech as a possible path- I think it often gets overlooked and comes with the associations of degrees and qualifications but I proved that wrong!
My educational background is...
I dropped out of sixth form when I was 17 due to personal reasons, I then got a job in Logistics that focused all around numbers (still my strength to this day) from then I learnt Excel. I then got hired as a pricing analyst, from there Missguided hired me and my real analytical journey started as my focus then was data files. Now I work in recruitment for Data and Analytics
What advice I'd give to girls thinking about a career in digital and tech...
You can learn the whole scope of the businesses from these teams and it is a reliable industry. There will always be a need for it as much as there will always be something new to learn. You will never know it all and that is what keeps it interesting.
