I am an Enterprise Applications Analyst for a global law firm, Latham & Watkins. I provide support for a number of applications used within the firm, from both a backend and user-facing/front end perspective. My role involves upgrading and maintaining the applications and troubleshooting any issues, among a variety of other things.
The firm’s rollout of Microsoft 365 software. The project gave me an opportunity to develop and utilise a variety of skills, including project management, application expertise and business analysis, and to collaborate with team members and colleagues across the firm.
I graduated with an arts degree but always held an interest in technology (IT). To help me pursue a career in IT, I studied a postgraduate IT conversion course at Loughborough University. Since then, I have achieved a number of IT-related qualifications relevant to my roles, such as Microsoft Office certifications and ITIL.
The technology industry has always excited me, and the ever-changing, fast-moving pace of change creates plenty of opportunities for ongoing learning and career development. There are also many different areas within technology, so I was also attracted by the variety of different career paths. It’s a constantly evolving industry.
My advice to young women thinking about a career in digital and technology is to start early, stay focused, and concentrate on your contribution to the industry. You will be working in a modern and forward-thinking sector, with constant change and variety.
