I look after digital products that support our colleagues in stores. I work with the wider business to understand requirements and then prioritise those through speaking to key stakeholders. I work with a development team using Agile methodology and they will help to estimate the effort that is required to complete the requirements. I will ensure that my development team understand the requirements and priority of those and they will then build and test the product.
SmartShop was the first application I worked on with Sainsbury’s. Allowing customers to scan their shopping as they go, removing the need to unpack bags at checkout. It was an exciting product to work on, launching the first mobile app for customers to scan their shop alongside in store handsets
I studied Management Studies BA – A 3 year fast track course which included a full years placement in my second year.
A Career in D&T wasn’t planned. My previous job role at Ricoh, evolved gradually and I started to get involved in software related projects which I found I enjoyed. I then joined Sainsbury’s straight into the D&T team, it’s a fantastic space to work in with constant change and evolution.
The world wouldn’t function without D&T products now, it is a constantly changing environment which also allows for a lot of creativity. There are endless opportunities within the space of D&T and you don’t need to be ‘techy’ to work within it.
