I'm a female founder and software engineer. I built and maintain an interactive platform for asking and answering questions before, during and after events at assenty.com.
Nearly three years ago, I decided to tackle the problem of getting questions from an audience up onto a screen during a Q&A session and ended up creating Assenty, an interactive platform for asking and answering questions before, during and after events.
I studied Electronic and Communication Engineering for 5 years at the University of York. That gave me an MEng (Hons) degree. I received a thorough introduction to engineering principles at uni. However, I taught myself the programming languages I now use on a day to day basis.
I wanted to have a stable career that would let me play music and write and record my own albums. True story! I play piano, keyboards, bass, drums. Looking back, all the effort I put into learning about the technical side of making albums made me fearless about writing software(!)
